Deposits & Reservations
Stock Reservation Deposit
If you wish to reserve a specific container from stock while you arrange final payment or site preparation, we can hold the unit for up to 5 working days upon receipt of a non-refundable reservation deposit of £150 + VAT. This deposit is deducted from the final purchase price. If the order does not proceed within the agreed holding period, the reservation deposit is forfeited and the unit is released back to general sale.
Modified Container Deposit
For all modified or bespoke containers, a 50% deposit of the total order value is required before modification works commence. This deposit covers materials, workshop allocation, and labour planning. The deposit is:
- Non-refundable once physical modification works have begun
- Fully refundable if the order is cancelled before any works commence, within 48 hours of placement
- Partially refundable at our discretion if cancelled after 48 hours but before works begin, minus any materials already ordered
Hire Damage Deposit
All new hire agreements require a refundable damage deposit equivalent to one month's hire charge (minimum £100 + VAT). This deposit is held for the duration of the hire agreement and returned within 14 days of the container being collected, subject to the unit being returned in the same condition as delivered, allowing for fair wear and tear.
All deposit terms will be clearly stated in your written order confirmation before any payment is taken. We will never take a deposit without providing a written record of what it covers and the conditions under which it is refundable.

Hire Payments & Direct Debit
All container hire agreements are billed monthly in advance via Direct Debit. Here is how the hire payment process works:
Initial Payment
Before your container is delivered, you pay the first month's hire charge plus the refundable damage deposit by card or bank transfer. This confirms your hire agreement and schedules your delivery.
Direct Debit Setup
You will receive a GoCardless Direct Debit mandate to complete online. This takes less than 2 minutes. Your monthly payments will be collected automatically on the same date each month, aligned to your delivery date.
Monthly Billing
You will receive an advance email notification 3 working days before each collection, confirming the amount to be taken. A VAT invoice is issued automatically on each billing date.
Hire Rate Reviews
Hire rates are fixed for the first 12 months of any hire agreement. After 12 months, rates may be reviewed and adjusted with a minimum of 30 days' written notice. You may terminate the agreement within the notice period if you do not wish to accept a rate change.
Termination & Final Invoice
To end your hire agreement, provide 28 days' written notice to hire@containexpro.co.uk. A final invoice will be issued for any outstanding balance. Once the container is collected and inspected, your damage deposit is returned within 14 days.

Invoices & Receipts
We issue formal VAT-compliant documentation for every transaction:
- A proforma invoice is issued for all orders requiring upfront payment, clearly showing the amount due, payment methods, and our bank details
- A VAT invoice is issued automatically upon receipt of cleared payment for sales, or on each billing date for hire agreements
- A delivery note accompanies every container delivery and serves as proof of delivery once signed
- All invoices are sent by email to the address provided at the time of ordering — please ensure this address is correct and monitored

Late & Outstanding Payments
We understand that payment delays can sometimes occur. We aim to handle late payment situations pragmatically and professionally. However, please be aware of the following:
Sales Orders
- If full payment is not received within 7 days of the proforma invoice date, a reserved container may be released back to general stock
- Modification works will be paused if a balance payment is not received by the agreed due date
- We will always contact you before taking any action on a missed payment
Trade Account Customers
- Invoices overdue by more than 7 days will be subject to a payment reminder
- Invoices overdue by more than 30 days may incur a statutory interest charge of 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate, as permitted under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998
- We reserve the right to suspend trade account credit facilities for accounts with outstanding overdue balances exceeding 30 days
- Accounts referred to a debt recovery agency will incur a fixed compensation charge in accordance with the Late Payment Act
Hire Agreements
- If a direct debit payment fails, we will notify you immediately and attempt re-collection within 5 working days
- Two consecutive failed collections may result in the hire agreement being reviewed or terminated
- Outstanding hire charges must be cleared before the container will be collected at agreement end
If you are experiencing payment difficulties, please contact us as early as possible at accounts@containexpro.co.uk. We will always try to work with you to find a solution before escalating to formal recovery procedures.
